Electron Microscope Project
In this project, this group used a Keyence microscope and an Electron Beam Microscope to see the affect different speeds and feeds had on surface roughness on aluminum and steel samples.
See below to read the report and view images from the EM.
For this project, I programmed the HAAS mini mill, and operated the Keyence microscope to collect surface roughness data that was then analyzed to determine the RA values for each sample.
Low Carbon Steel
Low Carbon Steel
This image shows one of the samples we machined, and a professor told us that the voids near the middle of the image were created due to the low carbon content of the steel and the high machining rate pulling the steel rather than the endmill cutting.
